High school graduates Kencerio Walker and Nykeria Johnson lose father in tree accident on car.

A high school graduate from Georgia, along with his girlfriend and father, tragically lost their lives when a large tree fell onto their vehicle while they were driving. This terrible incident happened on a Saturday night as Kenselio Walker, 18, and his girlfriend Nikelia Johnson, also 18, were in their blue Ford Taurus, heading south on Georgia Highway 56 in Burke County. Their father, James Walker, 65, was also in the car. This story, initially reported, highlights a devastating loss just two days after they celebrated their graduation from Swainsboro High School.

The car was not the only one affected by the fallen tree; it struck another vehicle as well, though the driver of that car, a young man in a black Jeep Cherokee, only sustained minor injuries.

Heartbreakingly, a video surfaced showing Kenselio embracing his father on the school’s football field, a moment full of pride during the graduation ceremony. James, who had worked at the school, held orange balloons as he congratulated his son.

More images shared from that day depicted James with his arm around Kenselio and Nikelia. Following the tragedy, many tributes have come forward, including remarks from Ashley Roberson, a youth pastor at Jesus Saves Church, who described Kenselio as an unexpected but admirable leader.

Once Kenselio graduated, he took a moment to call a friend, Martha Bretwan, and express his love. She later shared her shock, saying she never imagined that would be their last conversation.

James was fondly remembered by his former colleagues at Emanuel Medical Center, who referred to him as a “father figure” with a warm spirit. One friend recalled, quite poignantly, how he was always a ray of sunshine, known for his positivity and kind words.

Friends and family have shared more memories, with descriptions of James highlighting his constant kindness. The tragedy has been described by Swainsboro school officials as a “catastrophic accident” and a significant loss for the community.

Even the mayor of Statesboro shared his sentiments online, expressing profound sorrow over the loss of Kenselio, Nikelia, and James Walker. He reflected on how a time of celebration had turned into deep sadness for so many people associated with them, emphasizing the need to cherish every moment with loved ones.

A wake was soon held for the two graduates.
