Dave Portnoy recently expressed his views regarding Tiger Woods’ latest car accident.
After Woods was arrested on drunken driving charges, Portnoy criticized the renowned golfer during Monday’s episode of FS1’s “Wake Up Barstool.” He recommended that Woods should find a driver to avoid the risk of seriously harming himself or others.
“When you’re impaired and get behind the wheel, it isn’t just you at risk—there are innocent people on the road too,” Portnoy stated.
“This isn’t something to brush off. I have no sympathy for him. I mean, how many people do you know that flip their car? This guy does it every couple of weeks! Honestly, he should go to jail for a bit; it might be what he needs,” he continued.
“I have my own vices… but they only put me in danger. When I drive, I just hire someone else to do it. It’s simple,” he added.
“Just call a driver. You’re going to end up hurting someone,” he urged.
On the day of the incident, Woods was driving near his residence in Jupiter Island, Florida, when he attempted to cut in front of a truck. Instead, he clipped its rear, leading his Land Rover to roll onto its side. He managed to crawl out through the passenger window.
Miraculously, Woods didn’t sustain any injuries in the accident.
He chose not to provide a urine sample to the police, resulting in his arrest and subsequent transport to the Martin County Jail. Officers reported that he passed a breathalyzer test but exhibited signs of impairment at the scene. He had to remain in jail for at least eight hours before being released on bail.
This isn’t Woods’ first notable collision. He experienced a crash into a fire hydrant in 2009 and faced a DUI arrest in 2017, with five different drugs found in his system at that time. He was also involved in a serious accident in 2021, which left him with a broken leg after being crushed under his vehicle.
Despite Portnoy and others urging Woods to hire a personal driver, Woods has opted against it. A source mentioned to People that “he doesn’t want anyone watching him or knowing his actions,” adding, “He dislikes public scrutiny,” and noted, “He feels safe driving.”
Regardless of Woods’ choice, Portnoy and many others clearly remain concerned.
