Curtis Sliwa’s Controversial Video with Zoran Mamdani

Former New York mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa is facing backlash from Republicans after appearing in a light-hearted video alongside socialist Mayor Zoran Mamdani. Critics quickly labeled Sliwa a traitor for this unexpected collaboration.

During their pre-election debate, Sliwa had harshly criticized Mamdani. However, following Mamdani’s victory over him in the mayoral race, Sliwa seems to have changed his tone, showing a friendlier side towards the left.

“I understand if people are loyal to the party, but I thought it was reprehensible,” said a vocal critic.

In the quirky video made for the Inner Circle show, Sliwa pretends to be a doctor who administers an allergy shot to Mamdani. This scene aims to highlight the importance of animal rescue and raises funds for charity.

Sliwa expressed his enthusiasm for the skit, stating, “I thought it was great because it promotes animal rescue.” But not everyone shares his sentiment.

Some Republicans were quite upset, with one operative claiming, “He betrayed his family. He betrayed the Republican Party. He betrayed everyone.” There are even calls for political contributions to be returned following this collaboration.

Democrat David Paterson commented, “I understand if people are loyal to the party, but I thought it was reprehensible.” His frustration is palpable, reflecting a broader discontent with Sliwa’s decision to engage with Mamdani.

Sliwa fired back at GOP critics by pointing out their selective outrage regarding President Trump, questioning why similar criticisms aren’t directed toward him for placing Mamdani in a position of influence.

He claimed that this sketch marked their first communication since the election and he intends to run again as the Republican candidate for mayor in 2029.

Former Governor Paterson didn’t hold back, likening Sliwa’s mayoral performance to the struggling New York Jets, scoffing, “We were never going to win. He scored seven percentage points. Seven points. The Jets even had seven points in their game.”
