Michigan Woman Arrested After Daring Escape from Police Car
Authorities in Michigan detained a woman on Tuesday who gained attention online for her audacious escape from a police car while handcuffed. This incident took place in Muskegon Heights on Saturday, just as police were approaching her vehicle in a parking lot.
A video captured by a bystander shows the woman, identified as 38-year-old Kendra Annie, emerging from the back seat of a police cruiser. She cleverly managed to lower herself out through a partially opened window, sliding one leg out at a time before sprinting away, still in handcuffs.
The Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed her identity after police apprehended her again on Tuesday morning.
Following their patrol, officers found Annie’s vehicle parked outside a closed store. They used a fingerprint scanner to verify her identity and previous criminal record, which led to her arrest. She was subsequently handcuffed and placed in a police car.
According to the Muskegon Heights Police Department, while officers searched her vehicle, Annie managed to escape through the rear window of the patrol car and took off on foot. They quickly rushed back, but couldn’t find her.
Several hours later, a report of a possible home invasion came from a nearby resident. Authorities suspect that Annie may have entered that home about an hour after her escape.
Police are currently looking into charges including fleeing, trespassing, and theft related to this incident. Further details have been requested from the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office.
