Lucky Diner Delivers Another Lottery Winner
A diner with a reputation for good fortune has struck again, this time delivering a $2 million Powerball winner.
Last week, the Massachusetts Lottery revealed that a winning ticket was sold at the Old South Diner in Nantucket, marking the fifth time a ticket sold there has won at least $1 million in just two years.
The ticket belonged to Mary Haley, a longtime Nantucket resident, as reported by several news outlets.
“It’s wonderful to see a local person win,” Haley shared.
The drawn numbers were 7, 21, 55, 56, 64, with the Powerball being 26 and the Power Play set to 4x.
Known to locals as a lucky venue, the Old South Diner continues to attract lottery players on the island.
This spot ranks among the top 10 percent of lottery retailers in Massachusetts, according to reports.
Since the winning streak began in March 2024, sales at the diner have surged by 37%, expanding its hold on the local market.
The luck kicked off with a $1 million scratch-off ticket sale in March 2024, followed by a $2 million winner in June and another $1 million prize in August that same year.
“The more tickets a store sells, the better the chance of producing a big winner,” noted Rachel Guerra, assistant director of communications for the Massachusetts Lottery.
In a related note, Tammy Carvey, aged 45 from Wyandotte, Michigan, scored a $100,000 Powerball prize using numbers generated by ChatGPT.
Meanwhile, Carrie Edwards, a grandmother from Midlothian, Virginia, previously won $150,000 using her own AI-generated numbers in September 2025. She ended up tripling her initial $50,000 prize. It’s heartwarming to see how she donated all of her winnings to various causes, including the Frontotemporal Degeneration Association and Shalom Farms.
