De Niro disrupts Supreme Court session, criticizes Trump's view on birthright citizenship

De Niro Attends Supreme Court Hearing on Birthright Citizenship

Actor Robert De Niro was spotted in a bustling courtroom alongside former President Donald Trump and his aides on Wednesday in Washington, D.C., where the Supreme Court heard oral arguments regarding birthright citizenship.

After leaving the courthouse, De Niro spoke with reporters and admitted he was unsure of how the arguments would unfold. “I’m waiting for A to come out… I heard it, but I couldn’t hear it completely, so I really don’t know. It’s complicated,” he remarked. He characterized the Trump administration’s stance—that children born to parents who are in the U.S. illegally may not be considered citizens—as an attempt by Republicans to “weed out people they don’t want.”

De Niro’s Views on Trump

Reflecting on his ongoing criticism of Trump, De Niro called the situation “very simple.” Over the weekend, he had participated in the “No Kings” protests in New York City, where his derogatory comments about Trump have drawn attention. Phrases like “shithole” and “thug” have been part of his public remarks, and he even expressed a desire to “punch him in the face,” labeling Trump as an “enemy” of the country.

When asked about claims suggesting he suffers from “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” De Niro dismissed the notion as “nonsense.” He seemed to suggest that the public’s dislike for Trump has a basis: “For all the terrible things he’s done—if he’d done good instead of something blatantly mean, people would love him.” This shows a glimpse of De Niro’s complex feelings on the matter.

The Supreme Court’s Position

In light of recent discussions, the Supreme Court is expected to dismiss Trump’s claims regarding birthright citizenship. Reports indicated that the argument lasted over two hours, with Trump and key officials, such as Attorney General Pam Bondi, present for the debate.

Addressing his thoughts on Trump, De Niro simply stated, “Everything” bothers him about the former president. As he put it, it’s all too clear what’s at stake when it comes to Trump’s actions.

Interestingly, De Niro took a seat that was reserved for the judge’s guests, highlighting his position amidst the ongoing legal discussions. He remarked at the No Kings rally, “When the crowd is chanting ‘No Kings,’ what I’m actually hearing is—’No Trump.’ No other president has posed such an existential threat to our freedoms and security,” calling cabinet members “thugs” and insisting that Trump needs to be stopped immediately.
