Trump Dismisses Attorney General Pam Bondi, Considerations for Successor Begin
President Donald Trump has decided to dismiss Attorney General Pam Bondi and is now looking at various potential replacements.
Despite having publicly praised Bondi in the past, this move indicates that there might be some dissatisfaction with her handling of certain cases within the Department of Justice (DOJ). It’s possible that Trump might consider offering her another role in his administration.
Sources close to the White House speculate that Trump is unhappy with the ongoing criminal investigations targeting his political rivals since Bondi took over. While several inquiries have launched since she assumed the role in February 2025, not many have resulted in successful prosecutions.
A federal grand jury recently declined to move forward with the DOJ’s investigation into accusations of home insurance fraud against New York Attorney General Letitia James. Additionally, a federal judge dismissed the indictments against former FBI Director James Comey from last year.
Investigations involving figures such as Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), Representative Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), and a group of six congressional Democrats, who have been labeled as the “seditious six” on social media for a video that prompted service members to defy orders, have yet to yield any charges.
In another shift, Trump recently replaced Kristi Noem as the Secretary of Homeland Security, appointing Markwayne Mullin to the position. However, Noem has been assigned to a new role as the Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas, part of a new multinational security initiative.
This is a developing story. Updates will follow.
