Bryce James won’t be making headlines this Thursday regarding Arizona’s journey to the Final Four.
LeBron James’ youngest son was reportedly kept from attending media sessions due to bodyguards, who were present during the Wildcats’ media availability in Indianapolis, as noted by Dan Wolken from Yahoo Sports.
It seems that Arizona State had to intervene, as Wolken mentioned that staff informed reporters about Bryce’s unavailability for interviews.
As a freshman, Bryce hasn’t played on the court this season since he opted to redshirt, yet interest in him continues to soar.
Of course, being the son of an NBA legend adds to the intrigue; having watched Arizona play closely, he might offer some valuable insights as they prepare to face Michigan this Saturday.
Wolken later clarified that decisions about Bryce’s media appearances come mainly from LeBron and his representatives, rather than the university itself.
Bryce committed to the University of Arizona in January 2025 and decided to sit out his first year in February 2026. At that time, Wildcats coach Tommy Lloyd mentioned that the choice was aimed at giving Bryce the broadest career options moving forward.
“I genuinely believe that Bryce will make a significant contribution to the University of Arizona soon,” Lloyd added, noting Bryce’s progress and physical development while becoming familiar with the team’s system.
