Coach Tommy Lloyd’s Focus Amid Speculations

INDIANAPOLIS — Tommy Lloyd, the coach of Arizona, remains undeterred by rumors linking him to the open position at North Carolina State. Instead, he is solely concentrating on leading his top-seeded team to a national championship.

Lloyd expressed his commitment clearly on Thursday, stating, “I’m fully committed to this team. I’m not going to let anything distract me. That’s how I decided to approach it.” He considers himself pretty straightforward, preferring to tackle one thing at a time. “You can ask my wife,” he added, emphasizing his dedication to Arizona basketball and excitement for what his team can achieve.

This year marks Arizona’s return to the Final Four after a 25-year hiatus. Over the past five seasons, Lloyd, who previously assisted at Gonzaga, has built a remarkable record of 145 wins and 38 losses.

Following Arizona’s victory in the West Division, Lloyd made headlines when he remarked, “Arizona will have another great coach after me. I promise you.”

When questioned further about his future earlier this week, Lloyd seemed a bit defensive. “You might call them ‘distractions,’ but that’s because they are distractions,” he told the media, clarifying that the noise surrounding potential job changes has not affected him or his team.

As of now, Lloyd has not directly stated whether he has any interest in relocating to North Carolina or any plans regarding his future in Arizona.

Elliott Caddo’s Allergy Incident

In other news, Michigan point guard Elliott Caddo was hospitalized midweek due to an allergic reaction triggered by accidentally touching a nut before the Wolverines headed to the Final Four.

However, the junior returned to join his teammates on Thursday, practicing afterward and is expected to play against Arizona in a highly anticipated matchup on Saturday. Caddo referred to the incident as “mild” and noted it was less severe than a similar reaction he encountered in his childhood.

Michigan coach Dusty May commented, “It’s very unfortunate that he has to go through something like that. If that’s the worst thing that could happen to us, we’re very blessed.” Caddo, hailing from West Orange, New Jersey, is currently averaging 10.2 points and 5.8 assists for Michigan State.
