Iconic Actor Dennis Quaid Set to Receive Patriot Ally Award

Dennis Quaid to be Honored at MV Awards

Actor Dennis Quaid is set to be awarded the Patriot Ally Award during the MV Awards, taking place on May 23 in Los Angeles, California.

This recognition will occur at the Skirball Cultural Center during the second annual celebration, which aims to highlight compelling storytelling in film and media that represents veterans’ experiences. The National Entertainment Awards Academy for Military & Veterans organizes this event, which will focus on films connected to the Vietnam War. It’s expected to bring together figures from the entertainment industry and those with military backgrounds.

The MV Awards seek to assist veterans by changing the narrative and improving their representation in entertainment.

The gala will feature a red carpet and will be a black-tie event, including special performances and VIP experiences. Notably, SAG-AFTRA and the American Legion are among the supporters of this initiative.

The event aspires to highlight genuine stories influenced by personal experiences. Actor and Iraq War veteran Maurice P. Kerry will co-host the evening, during which he will introduce Quaid and recognize his contributions to film. Leaders from the American Legion are scheduled to present the award to him.

Quaid, who has had a prolific career in film and television, is well-known for his roles in classics like “The Parent Trap,” “The Rookie,” and “The Day After Tomorrow.” He has portrayed Admiral William “Bull” Halsey in the film “Midway” and a Coast Guard Admiral in “Yours, Mine and Ours.”

His selection for the Patriot Ally Award underscores his support for military-themed narratives in entertainment and his commitment to the veteran community.

“Maurice brings professionalism, presence, and heart to the stage,” said NEAAMV Chairman Joe Ramirez. He added that having Kerry co-host an evening honoring Quaid reflects the quality of voices dedicating their efforts to support veterans within media.
