Congress Advances U.S.-Israel Military Cooperation

In a somewhat understated move, Congress is looking to strengthen the U.S.-Israel military partnership. This follows the introduction of a clause in the House’s 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

The bill, revealed in late May, features a section called the U.S.-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative in Article 224. This initiative aims to bolster military collaboration through avenues like research, development, and even joint production efforts. It also seeks to enhance “network integration” and “data fusion,” essentially further intertwining the operations of the U.S. military with those of Israel.

If the NDAA were to pass in its current format, it would outline various areas of collaboration between the two nations. These efforts could touch on cyber defense, artificial intelligence, anti-tunneling measures, and other emerging technologies.

“Remember when they tried to sneak a definition of anti-Semitism into federal law last year? It feels just as ridiculous. Why does a Republican Congress keep making these moves every summer?” questioned Aaron McIntyre during his show, expressing disbelief at the timing.

This recent push for deeper military integration comes during a period when public sentiment towards Israel in the U.S. has sharply declined.

Recent surveys indicate that support for Israel is waning, particularly among younger Americans. A recent Pew Research poll highlighted that 60% of adults now hold an unfavorable view of Israel, which is an increase from 53% in 2025. Moreover, confidence in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s foreign policy has dropped, with 59% of adults expressing skepticism about his decision-making.

This trend appears to be consistent across both major political parties, with a significant number of adults under 50 reporting negative opinions about Israel and Netanyahu.
