Uber shares the strange and downright weird items passengers left behind during their rides this year

Uber recently highlighted some of the oddest items that passengers left behind during rides last year, marking New York City as the most “forgetful” large city in the U.S.

On Tuesday, the rideshare company unveiled its 10th annual “Lost and Found Index,” providing a glimpse into the quirky challenges drivers often encounter.

The items lost during rides ranged from the peculiarly personal to the rather alarming.

One passenger, for instance, astonishingly discarded an ankle monitor. Another, for reasons unclear, left behind a child’s prosthetic eye, while yet another forgot dentures containing just two teeth.

Uber’s report noted that a team, possibly jokingly termed “Stoner’s team,” left behind a considerable amount of breadcrumbs and, amusingly, donuts infused with marijuana, in celebration of April 20th.

Some drivers unexpectedly discovered condoms and bottles of body oil wedged between their seats. Remarkably, others have come across abandoned kitchen appliances, like dishwashers and double-door ovens, presumably for home renovations.

Interestingly, the most items were lost on July 17, 2025, although there’s no specific reason tied to that date.

As expected, the index shows that the most frequently forgotten item was a mobile phone.

For the second consecutive year, New York City has secured its position as the top city for forgetfulness. Newark, New Jersey, took the 10th spot.

In April 2025, Uber released its annual findings alongside a pop-up event in Manhattan, where team members handed out some of the forgotten valuables. Among the displayed items were a chainsaw and a raw hamburger patty.

In 2023, an inventive passenger exited a ride forgetting his pet poodle, and in 2022, someone carelessly threw away 500 grams of caviar, which can be quite expensive, sometimes surpassing $2,500.

For those who think they may have left something in an Uber, the app includes a “Find Lost Item” feature, allowing customers to reconnect with their driver to help recover their belongings.
