Walmart Employee Stabbed to Death During Night Shift

A tragic incident unfolded at a Walmart in Arkansas when a female employee was attacked and fatally stabbed during her late-night shift. The accused, who is 37 years old, claimed to have confronted what he perceived as “the devil” that was pursuing him.

According to the Conway Police Department, officers were called to the Walmart Supercenter on U.S. 65 at around 10:58 p.m. on Tuesday after receiving reports of a stabbing. Responding officers arrived quickly and encountered the suspect, identified as Zedrick Ross, who was still armed with a knife.

The police reported that they instructed him several times to drop the knife, but he refused and advanced towards them. In response, one officer discharged a firearm but missed Ross, while another officer utilized a Taser.

The victim, 32-year-old Jordan Drinkwater, was found by authorities and received immediate medical assistance but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

After the incident, Ross was arrested and taken to the Faulkner County Detention Center, where he remains held without bail on a charge of first-degree murder. Fortunately, no one else was injured during the attack.

Further investigation revealed that Ross had no prior connection to Drinkwater and did not know her at all. Police have labeled the stabbing as an apparently random act of violence, and the inquiry is ongoing.

In a police affidavit, Ross reportedly told detectives that he felt he was being pursued by “the devil” and armed himself with a knife for self-defense. He stated that he mistakenly thought Drinkwater was the one chasing him and repeatedly stabbed her. He later acknowledged that she didn’t resemble the person he believed was following him.

Ross admitted to having stolen a knife and going to Walmart to acquire another weapon, according to the affidavit.

The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure after such incidents.

Friends of Drinkwater have shared their grief, describing her as a “wonderful human being” who had a positive impact on their lives. One friend recalled hearing about her death and expressing disbelief, stating that it felt like a moment that changed everything for her. “I’ve never met anyone as pure as Jordan,” she reflected, struggling to understand why such a tragedy occurred.
