The wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom expressed her frustration with reporters during a recent event where a funding bill for Planned Parenthood was signed. She accused the media of showing a lack of concern for the “terrible war on women” currently happening in the U.S.

Jennifer Siebel Newsom, known for her work as a filmmaker and her advocacy, is now gaining attention online for her past remarks about parenting. In a resurfaced interview, she mentioned how she has given her sons dolls to play with, even if some were damaged. This was intended to teach them that nurturing isn’t just a woman’s job but a responsibility for everyone.

“I’ve given my sons dolls, even if their heads were torn off,” she was quoted as saying. “We gave them the dolls to help them learn that care is not only a woman’s activity but also a man’s responsibility.”

She further noted that when reading to her children, she often alters the gender of main characters to female ones. “I do this not only for my daughters but also for my sons because I want them to see women as being central to stories and important in their own right,” she said.

Newsom also spoke on the topic of deconstructing traditional gender roles, expressing a belief that society is finally beginning to break free from these constraints. “We’re at a point in history where we’re dismantling all of our gender roles,” she remarked, adding that she is committed to challenging limiting narratives about humanity.

In a 2016 interview, she addressed the necessity of allowing boys to engage with nurturing activities and encouraging girls to explore building and physical activities. “What do we need to do to combat the shackles of gender stereotypes? We need to encourage boys to play with dolls and girls to be active and build things,” she suggested.
