Bunny XO Reflects on Faith and Healing in New Memoir

Bunny XO, known for her podcast “Dumb Blonde” and her marriage to Jelly Roll, attributes her resilience during tough times to her faith. She recently released a memoir titled “Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic,” where she shares her tumultuous childhood and the complex early stages of her relationship with the musician.

“I feel like I’ve lived through nine lives,” Bunny, 46, expressed in an interview. “I truly believe that God has always been a part of my journey—even when I didn’t acknowledge Him. He lifted me even in my most challenging moments.”

According to her, the trials she faced ultimately became her testimony. “My confusion turned into my message,” she mused, adding that her reliance on God was crucial in navigating her past trauma.

In her book, she delves into painful experiences, including domestic violence and sexual assault from past partners.

When asked directly if her faith saved her life, she readily affirmed, “100%.” She elaborated, “We all need something to hold on to. Without hope, everything would be much bleaker. I’ve seen the power of faith firsthand.” Bunny recalls feeling lost at various points, resorting to drugs and alcohol to cope, and reflects that she hit rock bottom “a few times” before realizing she needed to change her path.

“I reached a point where I thought, ‘If I keep going like this, I’ll either end up dead or become another statistic,'” she remembered. Reflecting on her past choices, she recognized a pattern of following in her mother’s footsteps without wanting to. “I never intended to become a mother,” she stated.

Bunny, whose real name is Alyssa Deford, left home at 14 and eventually met Jelly Roll at a concert in Vegas in 2015. They tied the knot in 2016, and her life gradually shifted toward a brighter future.

In her memoir, Bunny detailed her struggles with substance abuse, as well as her thoughts on sobriety. While she quit drinking in 2018, she admitted to enjoying a glass of wine during a trip to Rome, emphasizing that sobriety looks different for everyone. “For me, it’s about making choices,” she said. “It can be tough, but it’s part of the journey.”

Now, at 46, Bunny wishes she could comfort her younger self, reassuring her that seeking power through misguided choices wasn’t the way. “I’m genuinely focused on what’s next—how I can inspire those who might feel trapped in their circumstances,” she conveyed.

Ultimately, her goal with the memoir is to reach those who may feel hopeless and encourage them by sharing her story. “If I can get through this, so can you,” she noted. “It doesn’t matter where you start from.”
