Trump Backs Steve Hilton in California Governor Race

President Donald Trump has expressed strong support for Steve Hilton, a fellow Republican and host of a California-based program.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump highlighted his long-standing admiration for Hilton, describing him as “a truly remarkable man who has seen this once great nation go to hell.” He criticized incumbent Governor Gavin Newsom and the Democratic Party, saying, “People are fleeing, crime is up, and taxes are higher than any other state.”

Trump promised to assist Hilton in addressing California’s housing affordability issue, should he win the crowded gubernatorial contest.

“Steve can turn things around before it’s too late,” Trump stated. He added, “With federal help and a great governor like Steve Hilton, California will be better than ever!”

In his remarks, Trump conveyed total confidence in Hilton, asserting, “He will be a great governor and never let you down!!!”

Polling data shows Hilton leading the race, closely followed by Rep. Eric Swalwell, who had previously been in the lead until March. A leaked video showcasing former Rep. Katie Porter’s behavior towards journalists may have contributed to her decline.

Hilton has emerged as one of two Republican candidates contesting against eight Democrats in the race. He and Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco are currently the frontrunners in a divided Democratic landscape.

A recent public opinion poll indicated that 16% of likely voters support Hilton, while 14% back Bianco, with Democratic candidates lagging behind at less than 10% each. Another survey from the University of California, Berkeley also reinforced Hilton and Bianco’s leading positions as they clamor for attention in a competitive political environment.
