Incident at Planet Fitness Leads to Stabbing

A man from the Philadelphia area is facing accusations of stabbing a worker at Planet Fitness multiple times during a dispute last week. This confrontation allegedly followed his ban due to unpaid fees.

Police and Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the Planet Fitness location on Southeastern Road in Wyncote, Cheltenham Township, just after 12:30 p.m. last Thursday to respond to reports of a stabbing.

Bail has been denied for the suspect, Davia Massey, 28, who was taken to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility while awaiting court proceedings.

The victim, a Planet Fitness employee, sustained several stab wounds and was transported to a local trauma center, where he is being treated for serious injuries, according to authorities.

Initial investigations revealed that the incident occurred during a conflict between Massey, who had previously been banned from the gym, and the employee.

Officials later apprehended Massey just a short distance from the scene.

Reports indicated that Massey had been suspended the day prior for unpaid fees. He allegedly returned to the gym twice on Thursday, creating a disturbance during his second visit, which ultimately led to the employee being stabbed repeatedly.

Massey has been charged with multiple offenses, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and more, according to official statements.
