Doctor highlights concerns over transgender care for minors and marijuana legalization
Dr. Janet Nesheiwat, a family and emergency physician, has shared her views on a federal judge’s ruling related to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s statement about “sex denial treatment” for minors. She underscores the importance of thorough social and psychological evaluations before undertaking any irreversible treatments for gender dysphoria. Additionally, she raises alarms about the increasing potency and health risks associated with marijuana as more states look into legalization.
The Department of Education has initiated an investigation into a public school district in Massachusetts. This stems from allegations that the district is compelling students to conform to societal norms while limiting parents’ ability to change policies. The situation also involves students at K-12 schools using restrooms and locker rooms according to their gender identity rather than their biological sex.
The Westford County Public Schools (WPS) policy permits students to access facilities that correspond with their gender identity. Those who object, including some students of the opposite sex, are reportedly removed from these areas, as noted by America First Legal (AFL), the organization that filed the initial complaint prompting the inquiry.
“America First Legal is dedicated to protecting our children from left-wing indoctrination,” said AFL President Gene Hamilton. “We will not stand by as our female students are silenced or endangered due to WPS’s gender identity policies. The Department of Education’s investigation sends a clear message: Title IX will not be compromised for the sake of gender ideology.”
Virginia school district maintains single-sex restroom policy despite federal directive
The policy in question also allows female students access to male facilities, resulting in the removal of students who disagree or don’t fit within the prescribed gender categories from restrooms and locker rooms.
Amelia Joy, a spokesperson for the Department of Education, stated, “The previous administration often misinterpreted Title IX to cater to political correctness, even lacking a solid legal foundation. The current actions aim to uphold the law and correct past mistakes.”
Interestingly, the WPS’s policy documents, which seemed to have been erased from their website, previously detailed regulations surrounding gender identity and the use of pronouns, including definitions of terms like “gender nonconforming.”
Trump administration takes a stand on gender identity in schools
As discussions regarding the policy unfolded, there were indications that faculty and staff could be impacted if they aren’t allowed access to facilities based on gender identity. WPS Commissioner Tom Laflamme commented on the real implications, stating, “We recognize that there are students, and possibly staff, affected by this. These individuals are real and face potential harm due to inaction. This policy, though not perfect, signifies that they are valued.”
This policy was enacted following an executive order by President Donald Trump aimed at “Protecting Women from Gender Ideological Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government,” signed on January 20, 2025, the day he took office.
Federal enforcement on Title IX in several states
The executive order warns that funding could be withdrawn from institutions that fail to uphold two distinct gender norms and instead depend on self-identified gender statuses.
The order states, “Across the nation, ideologues who ignore biological realities are increasingly leveraging legal and social pressures to allow men to identify as women, accessing spaces meant for women, from domestic violence shelters to workplace facilities.” This approach is deemed inappropriate, according to the document.
“Federal funds should not be utilized to promote gender ideology. Agencies must scrutinize their grant terms and recipients to ensure alignment with these standards,” the order adds.
Fox News Digital attempted to connect with WPS and Laflamme for comments but did not receive a response prior to publication.
