White House Responds to Iran’s Peace Plan

On Wednesday, White House press secretary Caroline Levitt criticized various news outlets for promoting Iran’s claim that President Trump had agreed to a skewed 10-point peace plan. Levitt addressed reporters, emphasizing that the plan put forth by Iran differs significantly from what was communicated during negotiations.

“Let me clarify and set the record straight,” Levitt stated. “The Iranian proposal was fundamentally unserious, unacceptable, and was essentially discarded by President Trump and his team.” She pointed out that many news organizations had incorrectly reported that the plan might be acceptable to the United States, labeling those claims as false.

Levitt noted that negotiations with Iran were ongoing but did not provide specifics about the terms, though Trump had previously described one potential deal as “workable” prior to a recent ceasefire.

The Iranian plan includes several controversial demands, such as lifting all sanctions against Iran and ensuring that Iran gains full control over the Strait of Hormuz—a significant concern for many given recent tensions in the region.

Moreover, the proposal seeks compensation for damages incurred during the conflict and calls for the withdrawal of all U.S. troops from the Middle East.

In a statement on Wednesday, Trump publicly rejected the Iranian plan. He expressed concern over various individuals claiming to represent U.S.-Iran negotiations, describing them as “frauds” and “charlatans.” Trump emphasized that only one point could be deemed acceptable by the United States and that this would be discussed privately during the ongoing talks.
