Man arrested related to disappearance of woman last spotted in the Bahamas

Hope Town, Bahamas – The Royal Bahamas Police Force announced on Wednesday evening that an individual has been arrested in relation to the case of a missing American woman in the Bahamas.

This development follows confirmation from the U.S. Coast Guard earlier on Wednesday that a criminal investigation has been initiated regarding the disappearance of Lynette Hooker.

Hooker, 56 years old, went missing while reportedly traveling by boat with her husband, Brian Hooker, who is 58. According to Brian, she fell overboard near Hope Town and was swept away by the current.

Fox News Digital reported that, around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officers from the Royal Bahamas Police Force approached Brian’s yacht for an inspection. The yacht was situated between two land masses at the time.

Witness AJ Skye noted that two officers appeared to be securing items alongside the boat. An officer was also observed looking through a window before the crew departed shortly after.

No significant activities were seen around the yacht thereafter.

Brian has not responded to various requests for comment and has not faced any charges yet.

The incident reportedly began around 7:30 p.m. as the couple was approaching their yacht in a small dinghy. Brian stated he attempted to reach Lynette after she fell into the water, but rough conditions eventually separated them. He indicated that she had the ignition key and was left to paddle back, which seems quite troubling.

Lynette was reported missing around 4 a.m. on Sunday. Brian expressed his grief on social media, stating, “I am heartbroken by the recent boating accident where my beloved Lynette fell from a small dinghy in unpredictable seas…” He mentioned their desperate attempts to locate her amidst the chaos.

However, concerns have been raised by Lynette’s daughter, who mentioned that her mother had never operated the dinghy before. “She’s never driven,” she said, questioning how Lynette ended up with the keys during the incident. This is quite puzzling given her mother’s history.

Lynette has been described as “very healthy,” further casting doubt on the situation surrounding her fall.

Additionally, the daughter suggested that Brian’s past behavior raises serious questions. She recounted incidents from the past that could be relevant to this investigation, adding a layer of complexity to the situation. “Even if this was truly an accident, we need to carefully consider all facts before concluding,” she remarked.

In response to the case, Bahamian authorities launched an extensive search and rescue operation using drones and professional divers to find Lynette. The U.S. Coast Guard has also joined in, and as the investigation unfolds, the circumstances remain cloudy.
