Sen. Fetterman Discusses Support for Military Action Against Iran
During an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” on Wednesday, Sen. John Fetterman (R-Pennsylvania) shared his backing for military actions taken by the Trump administration against Iran, stating that he is the only Democrat to do so.
Host Sean Hannity remarked, “If President Trump were to target a legitimate military site in a conflict, those targets would include bridges and infrastructure. This has been the case in every war. It’s a proper target, and criticizing him for pursuing peace seems inconsistent, especially after he significantly diminished their nuclear capabilities and military infrastructure. What could he possibly do that would be right?”
Fetterman responded, “First, I think it’s crucial to acknowledge the achievements of our military. They have severely diminished Iran’s capabilities; they’ve weakened their navy, yet, throughout this Epic Fury campaign, we’ve essentially remained unscathed. I also want to remember that all Democratic candidates for president, and those in the Senate, have vowed to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. And concerning war crimes, let’s not forget that Iran has committed these for decades. As a Democrat, I supported Trump’s actions to hold Iran accountable, which I believe were effective.”
He continued, “As we’ve discussed, the situation isn’t resolved yet, but we’re currently at day 38 of this conflict. The war in Ukraine has dragged on for over four years. Conflicts can last for many years, and we’re not even past the first 40 days. But, in terms of progress, we can’t ignore what we’ve achieved. It’s kind of odd that we need to make such statements now; I remember when we all backed the military, recognizing Iran as the principal sponsor of terrorism, part of an evil empire.”
“Think about Iran’s actions,” Fetterman added. “They’ve been responsible for the deaths of thousands of Americans over the past 50 years. Yes, we need to find a resolution to the current situation, but as the first president to take real action against this, that’s why I believe I’m the only Democrat who can support this approach.”
