Lauren Betts seeks a place on 'Dancing with the Stars' after her dance moves gain attention

UCLA’s Lauren Betts Eyes ‘Dancing with the Stars’ After Championship Win

Lauren Betts played a key role in helping UCLA clinch its first NCAA women’s basketball championship recently. With her newfound fame, she’s now setting her sights on a potential appearance on a well-known dance competition show.

Betts, who gained attention last month for her impressive choreographed performances alongside teammates during the tournament, shared her interest in “Dancing with the Stars” in an interview. She expressed that if the show’s producers invited her for the upcoming season, she’d be all in.

“Oh, absolutely!” Betts exclaimed, while serving at a Raising Cane’s in Hollywood. “I’m excited you brought that up. I’d love to do ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ It sounds like a fantastic opportunity.”

The dancing trio, including Betts, Charlisse Ledger Walker, and Gabriela Jaquez, caught the spotlight on March 3 when they joined UCLA’s Spirit Squad for an unexpected performance during a men’s basketball game at Pauley Pavilion. They won over the crowd with their routine set to Tate McRae’s “Just Keep Watching.”

Since then, the Bruins have recreated their dance performance after almost every major victory in March, each time gathering more attention.

Betts hopes to bring her teammates along if she gets the opportunity to participate in the dance show. “If they select all three of us, it feels like a package deal at this point,” she mentioned. “You really have to have all three.”

She’s also open to other dancing gigs, especially with pop star McRae, who has acknowledged Betts since the Bruins’ big wins. “Yes, I’d love that,” Betts commented on possibly collaborating with McRae. “We’re happy to perform in the background. Just being near her would be amazing.”

For now, though, Betts acknowledges that her primary focus is on preparing for the WNBA. However, if a live dance event comes up, she would definitely find a way to make it work.
