Melania Trump adviser reveals why she mentioned Jeffrey Epstein’s ‘lies’
Melania Trump has publicly denied any romantic involvement with Jeffrey Epstein. She addressed what she called “shameful lies” and urged Congress to take action for Epstein’s survivors. Mark Beckman, a senior advisor, is advocating for Congressional hearings to discuss the longstanding issues faced by Epstein’s victims. The intention of her statement seems to focus on dispelling rumors and highlighting her initiatives, such as the Take It Down Act.
Some of Epstein’s abuse survivors are pushing back against Melania Trump’s request for public testimony. After President Trump released a rare statement condemning Epstein and those who associate him with the First Lady, Rep. James Comer confirmed plans to conduct a hearing.
Melania Trump has requested Congress to hold hearings specifically for survivors. “I want these victims to have the chance to testify under oath before Congress,” President Trump stated. He added that there should come a day when every woman can publicly share her story, ensuring it is recorded in the Congressional record.
Nevertheless, a coalition of 15 Epstein victims issued a joint statement opposing this move. They argued that “First Lady Melania Trump is now shifting that burden onto survivors.” They highlighted the courage these survivors have already shown in coming forward, implying that further questioning isn’t just; it feels more like neglecting responsibility.
Rep. Comer has indicated his ongoing intention to hold these hearings. In a conversation with Fox News, he expressed his support for the First Lady’s position and reinforced that discussions about the victims of Epstein have always been part of his plan. “My team has been in regular contact with lawyers representing Epstein’s victims,” he noted. Some victims are willing to come forward, but many are not, which he completely understands. Still, he reaffirmed that hearings would occur once victim depositions were completed.
Earlier this year, the Oversight Committee removed former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton from office regarding Epstein-related inquiries, while Microsoft founder Bill Gates is set to give a deposition in June.
Mark Beckman, Melania’s adviser, stated that her public statement achieved three key things, particularly in exposing the falsehoods surrounding her and Epstein. “She has become an advocate for women and victims and is taking a leadership stance in Washington, calling for urgent Congressional action,” he emphasized.
Still, it remains uncertain when or how many survivors may choose to testify. The coalition of survivors emphasized in their statement that they have already done their part, urging those in positions of power to fulfill theirs.
