Iran’s new supreme leader allegedly injured in strikes by the US and Israel

Former CIA director claims agency conducted a deceitful operation to save airman from Iran

Iran’s New Supreme Leader Injured in Airstrike

According to reports, Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has suffered significant injuries to his legs and face following a US-Israeli airstrike in Tehran back in February. This event not only left him disfigured but also marked a pivotal moment in Iran’s leadership landscape.

Since the airstrike on February 28, which also claimed the life of his father, the late supreme leader Ali Hosseini Khamenei, Mojtaba has remained out of the public eye, recovering in a hospital. It seems he hasn’t made any public appearances since then.

However, despite the severity of his injuries, Khamenei is reportedly “mentally alert.” Sources close to him say he’s keeping in touch with the Iranian delegation sent to Pakistan to prepare for peace talks with the U.S., which are being led by Vice President J.D. Vance.

This news aligns with earlier comments made by Army Secretary Pete Hegseth, who mentioned on March 13 that Khamenei might be significantly disfigured.

Iran Delays Khamenei’s Farewell Ceremony

As tensions rise, Iran has decided to postpone a farewell ceremony for Khamenei that was expected to attract a large gathering. Hegseth reiterated concerns about Khamenei’s condition, stating that a number of high-ranking Iranian officials have been eliminated, further destabilizing the country.

In a recent press briefing, he laid out the grim details of the situation: “The top leadership has been systematically eliminated—names like the former Supreme Leader, and various defense and military officials,” he said, underlining the chaotic landscape inside Iran.

Hegseth has questioned the legitimacy of Khamenei’s leadership given the circumstances, suggesting that the new government had no choice but to act with urgency. The implications of these events contribute to an atmosphere of uncertainty and fear among the Iranian leadership.

Defiant Statement Amidst Health Concerns

Interestingly, despite his deteriorating health, Khamenei released a written statement asserting Iran’s stance, claiming, “Iran does not seek war, but it will not relinquish its rights.” It was a rather defiant message amidst the chaos. But Hegseth dismissed it as “weak,” wondering why Khamenei chose a written statement over public speech, insinuating that fear and legitimacy issues are looming large over the new leader.

Reports suggest that Khamenei might reappear in public within a month or two, depending on both his health and security situation. Some in Iran question the necessity of his public presence given the risks he might face, with opinions being voiced that perhaps it’s wiser for him to maintain a lower profile. After all, appearing publicly could make him a target for those who would wish to do him harm.
