Giannis Antetokounmpo Criticizes Bucks as 'Disrespectful' After Season End Injury

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Future with the Bucks in Doubt

It seems unlikely that Giannis Antetokounmpo will remain in Milwaukee next season. The superstar forward for the Bucks has recently expressed frustration with the franchise, particularly regarding his limited participation as the season came to a close.

Antetokounmpo’s time in Milwaukee has been turbulent lately, driven by trade rumors and concerns around managing his injuries. After a left knee hyperextension and bone bruise from a fall during a dunk in mid-March, the Bucks declared he was not cleared to play. Since then, he hasn’t suited up, and the team struggled, finishing with a 4-11 record during his absence. The Bucks lost their last game to the Philadelphia 76ers, ending the season on a disappointing note.

“Being cleared to play, I don’t understand. I’ve never in my life denied participation in practice,” he commented. “Whoever came up with that is disrespectful towards what I’ve done for this team and the way I carry myself.”

He expressed concern that he felt a lack of control over his ability to play, even when he appeared healthy during warm-ups. “It was draining for me, for sure. If it was draining for me, it was definitely draining for me and the organization,” he remarked.

With Giannis’s future unclear, there’s speculation around the league that Milwaukee isn’t the best environment at the moment. The Bucks may consider trading him in the offseason or could look to negotiate a contract extension worth $275 million over four years. However, given the current situation, a contract extension seems far-fetched.
