Megyn Kelly criticized President Donald Trump for sharing an AI-generated image that portrayed her as a figure resembling Christ.
“He’s essentially positioning himself as God with this,” Kelly remarked during her SiriusXM show.
“That’s blasphemy by any measure,” she added.
The former Fox News host was reacting to a widely circulated image Trump posted on Truth Social, showing him seemingly performing miracles on a sick individual while dressed in a robe.
Kelly was pointed in her remarks, not holding back.
“This is just inappropriate, and he knows it,” she stated.
Despite later removing the image, it stirred significant backlash from various political groups, even among some of his supporters.
The image depicted Trump placing a hand on the head of a man in bed, set against a backdrop of patriotic symbols like the American flag and bald eagle.
During her broadcast, Kelly even cited the definition of “blasphemy,” emphasizing that it includes showing contempt for God.
While she strongly condemned that image, she was somewhat more measured regarding Trump’s recent outburst against Pope Leo XIV.
“I had a feeling it wouldn’t be long before he went after him, and he did,” she commented.
“It wasn’t great, but I think everyone saw it coming,” she added, noting that it wasn’t something any Catholic would appreciate.
Kelly suggested that Trump’s responses fit a recognizable pattern.
“It’s difficult to label Trump as entirely irrational; whenever he feels attacked, he retaliates,” she explained.
In this ongoing situation, the Pope has criticized the war in Iran, saying it threatens “an entire civilization” and cautioned that “God does not bless any conflict.”
Trump, on the other hand, defended the controversial image, claiming it was meant to depict him as a doctor rather than a religious figure, labeling the criticism as “fake news.”
“This is me as a doctor, and I thought it was related to the Red Cross,” Trump told reporters, challenging the notion of any sacred implications.
“When I heard that, I thought, ‘How did they even come to that conclusion?’ It’s supposed to show me as someone who helps people, and I genuinely do improve lives,” he asserted.
Additionally, Trump maintained his critical stance toward the Pope, declaring him “soft on crime” and asserting he had nothing to apologize for.
The White House has been approached for comments on this matter.
