Johnny Robbie Takes Center Stage at WrestleMania Week
Las Vegas – Johnny Robbie is stepping into WrestleMania week with not much recognition, but it seems likely that by the end of the week, fans will know exactly who she is.
The California native has trained with New Japan Pro Wrestling and had brief appearances in Ring of Honor and All Elite Wrestling. Currently, she holds the title of West Coast Pro Wrestling Women’s Champion. During this week, she’s set to compete in about six matches, headlining her company’s event and participating in several others.
In a conversation about her background and journey into wrestling, Robbie shared her story. “I caught a glimpse of it as a kid,” she mentioned. “My best friend really got me interested again, and I figured why not give it a try myself?” With a strong presence, she asserts, “I don’t take anything from anyone.”
Robbie describes her Chicano heritage as an essential part of her identity. “From my sneakers to the way I dress, you can see it’s street style; it’s a connection to home,” she explained. Initially, she began training as a referee and slowly made her way into becoming a competitor.
“My friend encouraged me to pursue wrestling more seriously, saying I should find some schools. It wasn’t easy, especially in L.A. with only a few options,” she recalled. “I trained hard but struggled compared to others. So, the trainers had me referee until I was ready to make my debut.”
Now, as she steps into the ring, Robbie aims to incorporate her roots into her matches. She believes her attire and style reflect her journey and background. “I’m not just here for the fun; I showcase my attitude in the ring,” she admitted. “I have a bit of a short temper, and when I get a chance to dominate, I really lean into it.” She isn’t shy about her determination—”I may not be the biggest, but I know how to take a hit.”
Her friend, Alan Breeze, humorously describes her style as that of a “little pit bull,” and Robbie acknowledges that this reflects her approach to wrestling. “Growing up in a Chicano environment, you can see that influence in my wrestling,” she said.
She emphasizes the importance of representation in wrestling. “When younger girls see me, it resonates,” Robbie reflected. “I think, ‘Wow, they see themselves in me,’ and that’s impactful. It’s essential for them to find someone they relate to.”
Although she’s set to compete in a busy week, it’s not her first involvement in such events. She hopes to put on a good show with at least three matches before being invited to more events. “Quality over quantity—that’s my mantra,” she stated. “I didn’t want to be overloaded but wanted to make the most of this opportunity.”
Robbie is ready to take on the challenge, planning matches lined up starting on Wednesday. She kicks off with two bouts against Pandemonium Pro Wrestling and Anpologitic Pro. Following that, she defends her championship title on Thursday night, and on Friday, she goes up against Chris Nasty for the PrideStyle World Championship.
In the world of wrestling, it’s clear Johnny Robbie’s story is just beginning—an energizing journey fueled by hustle and dreams.
