Georgia murder suspect Olaolukitan Adon Abel is a naturalized citizen from the UK

The individual responsible for a series of violent attacks in DeKalb County, Georgia, is a repeat offender and a naturalized citizen from the UK, as stated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Olaolukitan Adon Abel, 26, was apprehended on Monday following the deaths of two people and injuries to another in what authorities described as random assaults. He faces serious charges including two counts of murder, aggravated assault, and weapon-related offenses, with one of the fatalities being a staff member from DHS.

The DHS confirmed to Fox News that Abel, a British national, became a U.S. citizen in 2022 during the Biden administration.

One of the victims, 40-year-old Lauren Bliss, was identified as working for the DHS Office of Inspector General. Reports indicate she was found shot and stabbed while walking her dog on Battle Forest Drive.

Witnesses allegedly reported seeing a man hovering over her before he fled the scene. “Yesterday, DHS employee Lauren Bliss was brutally shot and stabbed to death by Mr. Olaolukitan Adon Abel, 26, a British-born citizen who was naturalized by the Biden administration in 2022,” stated DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. He remarked on the steps taken since President Trump’s inauguration to prevent individuals with criminal backgrounds from acquiring citizenship.

Prior to Bliss’s death, police had discovered a woman with multiple gunshot wounds outside a Checkers restaurant on Wesley Chapel Road, who subsequently died from her injuries.

In a separate incident, a homeless man was attacked and shot several times while sleeping outside a shopping center on Peachtree Road in Brookhaven. His condition remains critical.

Abel was eventually captured in Troup County after law enforcement utilized a license plate recognition system to locate his silver Volkswagen Jetta.

His criminal background includes a prior arrest for sexual assault in Chatham County last fall, leading to prison time and probation that mandated a mental health evaluation.

“He has a criminal record comprising convictions for sexual assault, assault on a police officer, obstruction, and more. Now, he’s charged with the stabbing and murder of DHS employee Lauren Bliss,” Mullin noted. “Additionally, he is accused of fatally shooting an unidentified woman outside a Checkers and randomly shooting a homeless man multiple times in Brookhaven.”

“These acts of pure evil have devastated our ministry. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims,” he concluded.
