On Sunday, President Trump shared an AI-generated meme depicting himself in a white and red robe, seemingly holding a glowing orb while tending to a sick person in a hospital bed. This image was interpreted by many as Trump likening himself to Jesus, which sparked a wave of outrage over what some perceived as religious offensive content. However, a few defended the post, suggesting it was merely a light-hearted joke.
In response, Glenn Beck pointed out that many reactions are overlooking a broader issue.
The meme has created notable pushback from Trump’s evangelical and Catholic base, with Glenn accusing Trump of using a distasteful joke to stir up anger and division among his supporters.
“You can do whatever you want to Jesus in this country and no one seems to care,” he remarked, questioning why the Washington Post would care about alleged blasphemy against Christians if it isn’t political.
Glenn insisted that the larger issue at hand is how social media serves as a platform for both domestic and foreign entities to spread propaganda, foster discord, and incite outrage.
Recent findings have shown that foreign influences are actively participating in these discussions in America.
As an example, Glenn cited data indicating that 60% of the most discussed posts related to Iran originated from accounts based outside the U.S. These foreign accounts amassed 155 million views, outpacing the 93 million views from actual U.S. users.
This isn’t just random discontent, he asserts. It’s orchestrated by foreign nations like Iran, Russia, and China, pushing forward manipulated narratives to widen the divide.
These powers, he states, don’t care whether individuals back or oppose Trump. Their goal is to keep people competing against one another.
According to Glenn, the core issue with Trump’s meme isn’t just its content. It contributes to a cycle of social media conflict, and that’s precisely what adversaries want.
He cautioned, “[Social media] is a weapon pointed at us every day.”
