Tragic Death of Chris Peyton-Jones

Chris Peyton-Jones tragically lost his life in a car accident last weekend, only weeks after welcoming his daughter into the world.

The 30-year-old former cornerback was involved in a collision between his sedan and a pickup truck in Gainesville, Florida, as reported. News 4 Jacksonville shared the details.

His sister, Clothea Jones, spoke to the US Sun and expressed her heartache, mentioning that her niece was born just three weeks before the accident. “I’m devastated. I’m hurting. My brother is gone. I can’t even bear the pain,” she shared.

Despite the challenges, Chris was reportedly excited about his new role as a father and the life ahead. Clothea noted, “He was just thrilled to be a dad.”

They already had a son together, who had just turned 7 last year. That’s a lot of joy wrapped up in heartache.

Peyton Jones had a career that included time with the Lions, Titans, Vikings, and Cardinals, but he last played for the St. Louis BattleHawks of the United Football League before retiring from professional football in January.

In more recent years, he had shifted focus to content creation, running a Flashflix YouTube channel. Friends described him as a dedicated presence at high school football events, mentoring aspiring players and videographers.

Throughout his NFL career, he participated in 29 regular-season games after going undrafted from Nebraska in 2018.

According to an accident report obtained by the US Sun, Peyton-Jones was driving on the wrong side of the road at the time of the crash. Fortunately, three passengers in the pickup truck only suffered minor injuries.

Anthony Becht, a former coach with the BattleHawks, expressed his sorrow upon learning of Peyton-Jones’s passing. “Chris was an outstanding player, a great teammate, and a wonderful person. He was a joy to coach and to spend time with in St. Louis.” He extended his condolences to the Peyton-Jones family, stating that the world has lost a truly good man.

In response to her brother’s death, Clothea updated her Facebook cover photo with images of the two of them, filling her posts with poignant emotions. “This…is unbearable,” she reflected in one post. “How am I supposed to live knowing that I can’t see your face anymore or get hugs? Someone wake me up…”
