The eastbound lanes of the 105 Freeway in Los Angeles have been shut down for several hours following an incident involving a driver who was discovered shot inside his vehicle on Thursday afternoon. This closure has led to significant traffic delays and congestion throughout the area.
The California Highway Patrol received a call around 1:45 p.m. about a driver who appeared unresponsive, slumped over the steering wheel of a black Toyota Camry. The car was found in the carpool lane, just west of Vermont Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found the male driver with at least one gunshot wound. To make matters worse, images from the scene revealed that the rear window of the vehicle had been shattered, with a clear bullet hole visible.
This has resulted in a backup of vehicles on Highway 105, effectively bringing traffic to a standstill as people stared at the scene.
Paramedics rushed the victim to a hospital, where his condition was deemed critical.
In response to the shooting, authorities closed all eastbound lanes of the 105 Freeway just west of Vermont Avenue, which has created widespread traffic issues.
Motorists are advised to exit the freeway early, particularly at Crenshaw Boulevard, to avoid getting caught in the backups.
Investigators are working to find out who fired the shots, but so far, no suspects or vehicles linked to the incident have been identified. Additionally, no weapon was found at the scene, and the motive for the shooting remains unclear.
The California Post reached out to the CHP for further details.
