Trump Claims Iran Has Yielded on U.S. Demands

Recently, President Trump stated that Iran seems to have acquiesced to two critical demands from the United States.

Following seven weeks of coordinated strikes by the U.S. and Israel against Iranian positions, Trump declared that the Strait of Hormuz is now no longer threatened and that Iran has allegedly agreed to halt its nuclear enrichment activities.

The announcement led to a notable uptick in the stock market, while oil futures took a significant dip.

“Iran has committed to never again closing the Strait of Hormuz. It will no longer serve as a weapon against the world!” Trump proclaimed on social media last Friday.

In a direct inquiry concerning Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Trump asserted during a conversation with a NewsNation reporter, “They agreed to everything.” He seemed surprised by the intensity of the agreement, stating, “Yes, are you surprised?”

The positive market reactions were echoed by Iran’s foreign minister, who confirmed the agreement and mentioned a ceasefire arrangement between Israel and Lebanon.

“As per the Lebanese ceasefire,” Seyed Abbas Araghchi elaborated, “based on the coordinated route previously established by Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization, all commercial shipping lanes through the Strait of Hormuz will be fully operational for the remaining ceasefire duration.” This announcement was shared on social media.

Trump added that Israel has accepted a ceasefire regarding military actions against Hezbollah in Lebanon, removing a significant hurdle for peace negotiations between Iran and the U.S.

In a further report, Axios mentioned that the U.S. is mulling over the release of $20 billion in previously frozen Iranian assets, contingent upon Iran surrendering its enriched uranium stockpile.

Gen. Dan Cain, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, noted that the operation to close and manage the Strait of Hormuz involved over 10,000 Sailors, Marines, and Airmen, along with numerous aircraft and ships.

He added that “Since the blockade’s commencement, 19 vessels have complied with U.S. military directives to turn back to Iran,” according to U.S. Central Command.
