Kevin Durant's intense interaction with a Lakers fan gains attention during Rockets' Game 1 defeat

During the game on Saturday night at Crypto.com Arena, the noise from Lakers fans really caught the attention of Rockets forward Kevin Durant, who was watching from the bench in casual clothes, feeling somewhat trapped by the atmosphere of a game he couldn’t play in.

Durant usually interacts with fans through social media, but the energy shifted unexpectedly in Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs. Lakers fans voiced their irritation over his absence, citing a right knee injury that kept him off the court.

Following the Rockets’ 107-98 loss to the injury-depleted Lakers, Durant approached rapper Travis Scott, who was seated near Houston’s bench. A clip surfaced showing a fan yelling at Durant, to which he had a pointed response that quickly became popular on the internet.

“Get that grown man out of your mouth,” he retorted, gesturing towards the fans as he made his way off the court. The jeers continued, and just before leaving, he added, “Don’t mention it, dear. [inaudible] yourself.”

The video gained traction on social media after Durant, a celebrated figure in basketball, was seen saying something not suitable for work to a Lakers supporter.

Reports indicate that Durant took a hit to his knee while practicing on Wednesday morning. The Rockets listed him as day-to-day due to a contusion. Although he warmed up for Game 1, ultimately, he held back after assessing his knee.

As noted by a reporter, Durant feels frustrated with the timing of the injury, especially missing a playoff game. Perhaps this affected the sentiment among Lakers fans after the game?

As it stands, Durant is still listed as available for Game 2, with Rockets coach Ime Udoka indicating optimism about his participation. If Durant doesn’t play, the Lakers could capitalize on their opportunity, especially since they’re missing their top two scorers, Luka Doncic and Austin Reeves.

Game 2 is set for Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
