Man Accused of Shooting and Stabbing DHS Worker Discovered Dead in Prison

Incident at Detention Center

A naturalized immigrant under the Biden administration was found dead in a detention center on Tuesday night. Earlier, he had allegedly shot and stabbed an off-duty Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employee.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office reported that Olaolukitan Adon Abel, a British immigrant with a criminal history, died while in custody. Authorities attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead shortly after. The exact cause of death remains unclear, although police stated they do not suspect any foul play. They are set to conduct an internal investigation regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.

On April 13, Abel is suspected of killing Lauren Bliss, a DHS employee, while she was walking her dog. Abel, who became a U.S. citizen in 2022, also has a military background, having served in the Navy. Reports detail that he faced new charges for another fatal shooting and a serious injury to a man during the same incident.

The attacks began early on April 13, and Abel is facing multiple charges, including two counts of malicious murder and aggravated assault. His criminal record includes convictions for sexual assault, assaulting a police officer, and other violent offenses. There’s speculation that the shooting might have stemmed from a heated argument about the temperature in his apartment shared with his roommate.

The Daily Caller reached out to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, but there was no response by the time of reporting.
