Journalist Arrested for Secretly Filming in Oklahoma TV Station
An Emmy-winning journalist has been arrested for allegedly filming individuals undressing at a local television station in Oklahoma. Darrell Lee Vanostra, 40, faces charges related to secretly using photographic or video equipment in a private setting.
Documents reveal that two hidden cameras were found in the locker room area of KWTV News 9 in downtown Oklahoma City. Officials are still uncertain about whether the cameras captured footage of staff or guests. However, during a review of the footage, investigators identified several individuals in varying states of undress.
The cameras were reportedly affixed to the bottom of a clothing rack using Velcro. Police launched an investigation after the discovery and began analyzing the videos. They later confirmed that the cameras were operating and recorded multiple users in the locker room.
Investigators noted that the cameras had been moved and accessed multiple times, helping them narrow down their search to Vanostra, who was allegedly inside the station outside of work hours. He reportedly entered the building and stayed for less than 45 minutes, during which the camera connections were suspected to have occurred.
Vanostra was taken into custody at his home in Moore, Oklahoma, and is being held on a $25,000 bail. Griffin Media released a statement acknowledging the arrest and emphasizing their commitment to employee safety and privacy, stating that they contacted law enforcement immediately upon discovering the hidden device and have been fully cooperating with the investigation.
