New London, Conn. — Disturbing Developments Following White House Correspondents’ Dinner Incident
In the wake of the shocking events at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, the brother of Cole Allen, who is accused of attempting to storm the venue, reportedly contacted police in Connecticut around two hours after the incident, possibly even before the chaos began.
The brother made the call to New London police around 10:50 p.m. Saturday, which came shortly after Allen allegedly tried to force his way into the security guard area with a shotgun.
He shared a peculiar manifesto, filled with anti-Trump sentiments, which Allen had allegedly sent him just minutes before the incident unfolded around 8:35 p.m. This surprising turn of events led to the evacuation of President Trump and his cabinet members.
Initially, police indicated that only individuals who had “expressed concerns” had reached out with relevant information. It turned out that the caller was indeed Allen’s younger brother, according to reports.
Neighbors mentioned that Allen’s brother got married last year and was expecting a child with his wife.
Authorities responded to the apartment where they lived on the second floor; however, this wasn’t necessarily the first time the brothers had tried to alert someone about the manifesto.
President Trump noted on Saturday night that Allen’s family had reached out prior to the shooting, but specifics about the timing of those calls are still unclear. White House officials are investigating further, as mentioned by CNN.
The New London police later clarified that their first call regarding the situation came after the shots were fired.
In a statement, the New London Police Department reassured the community of their commitment to working with various law enforcement agencies to maintain public safety.
Reports indicate that Allen’s brother was interviewed after his initial call, and the case was subsequently closed.
Allen is said to have sent a controversial manifesto that criticized the president and the security arrangements for the dinner, labeling him as a “friendly federal assassin.”
Just minutes after sending this document, he allegedly entered the Washington Hilton armed with both a shotgun and a pistol, trying to reach the banquet hall where numerous high-profile attendees, including Trump and other officials, were dining.
There was a brief exchange of gunfire before he was subdued and taken into custody, with President Trump successfully evacuated from the area.
Allen’s manifesto seemed to target the president and anyone present at the event. He wrote, “I will no longer allow pedophiles, rapists, and traitors to carry out their crimes,” seemingly referencing the president directly.
He also mentioned his intent to use buckshot instead of slugs, citing “less wall penetration” as a reason to minimize potential casualties.
Finally, Allen alluded to the possibility of collateral damage, expressing that he would, if necessary, reach his target through others present, whom he believed to be complicit merely by attending the event.
Residing in California, Allen also has family ties on the East Coast.
