A hidden surveillance camera, camouflaged among the bushes in a residential area, has sparked concerns about possible burglaries. This discovery led police in an Orange County city to issue an urgent warning.
A resident in Brea stumbled upon the cleverly disguised device while checking the shrubbery in their yard.
Such hidden cameras are often used by thieves to spy on homeowners, observe their routines, and pinpoint valuable items. Criminals can gain insight into the best times to strike without raising suspicion.
Officers have noted a rise in incidents where these covert cameras are placed near homes to secretly monitor the arrival and departure of residents, helping burglars to time their break-ins strategically.
“Thieves typically install these devices to keep tabs on homeowners, track their habits, and determine when they are most vulnerable,” stated the Blair Police Department.
The authorities recommend that homeowners frequently inspect their properties and consider installing security cameras to deter potential theft.
Interestingly, just last month, law enforcement in Los Angeles arrested several suspects linked to a South American gang. These individuals reportedly employed deceptive delivery tactics to gain access to people’s homes.
This gang, which included four Colombians, is accused of robbing unsuspecting victims while posing as delivery personnel from well-known companies.
Anyone encountering a suspicious object is advised not to touch or disturb it, as that could be dangerous. Instead, they should exit the area and report the matter to the Blair Police Department by calling 714-990-7911.
Once notified, police will secure the scene and conduct a thorough investigation to neutralize any risks. If deemed safe, any suspicious devices will be collected as evidence for further inquiry.
