State Arrival Ceremony for King Charles III at the White House
On the morning of April 28, 2026, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed King Charles III and Queen Camilla to the White House for a formal arrival ceremony.
During his speech, President Trump highlighted the somewhat ironic situation of marking America’s 250th anniversary by honoring the British monarch. He stated, “There is no more fitting tribute than this.”
He expressed, “Americans have no closer friends than the British. We share the same roots, speak the same language, and have the same values. And together, our warriors have defended the same extraordinary civilization under two flags: red, white, and blue.”
Concluding his remarks, President Trump thanked the royal family for their visit and extended wishes for God’s blessings for both Britain and the United States.
Following the ceremony, King Charles is set to engage in bilateral talks with President Trump, while Queen Camilla and First Lady Melania Trump will participate in a cross-cultural education event with American students at the White House tennis pavilion, according to a statement from the White House.
Later on Tuesday, King Charles will address Parliament, marking a significant moment as he becomes the second British monarch and the first king to do so. In the evening, both he and the queen are scheduled to attend a state dinner at the White House.
The royal couple arrived in Washington, D.C., on Monday, marking their first trip to the United States since King Charles took the throne.
