Fan Scuffle at Rangers Game Leads to Ejections
Early ejections took place during a recent Texas Rangers game, and at least, no one ended up spending the night in jail.
Arlington police, along with representatives from the Texas Rangers, reported that four fans involved in a brawl at Globe Life Field during Monday’s game against the Yankees were given trespass warnings and removed from the venue. Thankfully, no arrests were made.
There was some uncertainty around whether these fans will be banned from returning anytime soon.
In a statement to the media, the Rangers emphasized their commitment to fan safety, noting that their staff acted according to their training.
After the Yankees clinched a 4-2 victory, two fans supporting the Bronx Bombers were left with noticeable injuries, and footage of the altercation quickly spread online.
Witnesses noted that a man and woman wearing Yankees jerseys were reportedly teasing fans seated behind them, with the man making a comment about someone’s teeth and his companion telling another to “shut up,” pretty much trying to quiet others around them.
This incident unfolded in the right field seats of Section 133.
Things escalated when a Rangers fan in blue stood up, leading to a Yankees fan knocking a Coca-Cola bottle from his hand, which resulted in the Rangers fan throwing a punch.
After being struck, the Yankees fan fell back into his seat. Then, a fan in red, seated next to the Rangers fan, picked up what seemingly turned out to be a plastic drink holder shaped like a bat and began hitting the Yankees supporter.
The situation seemed to get more chaotic when the fan in red started waving at Yankees fans. A woman tried to intervene by knocking off his hat and grabbing his shirt.
In turn, the male Yankees fan stood up, attempting to strike the red fan, but the latter persisted and managed to push the Yankees fan back into his seat.
While the confrontation appeared to settle for a moment, the woman then struck a different red-clad fan.
Eventually, stadium security and Arlington police arrived, only to find the male fan with blood on his face, who was subsequently taken to a local hospital.
Just before his ejection, the situation deteriorated further for Yankees fans.
One female fan reportedly hurled insults at some Rangers fans wearing blue who were reading a book, and tried to throw a punch at one or both of them. In response, the fan in blue struck her in the face with a bag.
The altercation resulted in the women being pushed back several rows, visibly stumbling as they fell back about five seats.
