Angel Reese has an unexpectedly poor performance in preseason game against her old team

Can you feel it? The WNBA is returning! It’s that time again. But, naturally, teams need to shake off the preseason rust first. I’m curious how Angel Reese performed on Wednesday night against her previous squad.

If you haven’t been following the WNBA this offseason (you really should), Reese was traded from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream earlier this month. The reasons? Frankly, it’s not something I’m too invested in.

What really piques my interest is how Reese will play on the court. She’s quite a presence—sometimes a powerhouse, and at other times, she pulls off some antics that usually involve Caitlin Clark, which, I suppose, makes for entertaining content too.

However, there are moments when her performance makes you question if those highlights were generated by AI—like during Wednesday night’s game against her former team.

This is the Angel Reese content you missed

I shared a clip just to emphasize how awkward it looked after catching the highlights: “Angel Reese has departed.” Fair is fair, I’ve backed Reese multiple times. I believe she’s a valuable asset to the WNBA. No matter if folks want to admit it or not, she draws attention, and that’s beneficial for everyone.

But it’s amusing to see her say she’s “up” after landing a couple of field shots yet missing several free throws. Sure, she had some stellar moments, like… well, this:

Great play. I can see her potential!

But then—take a peak at the rest of her plays from that night. Yes, it’s just preseason, but still… it was rough to watch.

Her highlights often make rounds on social media numerous times a year, and each instance can be something else. “Highlights” are great, but the “lowlights” tend to be even more jaw-dropping. Her blunders are baffling, especially given her stature. You’d think she’d dominate the league, yet, credit where it’s due, some nights, she does just that.

Then there are other nights with results that leave me shaking my head. It’s irksome every single time.

Still, it’s great that the WNBA is back, and even better that Angel Reese is back. I think we might be stepping into a really exciting season.
