Caitlin Clark set to play in Fever preseason finale following injury concern

Caitlin Clark leaves preseason game due to collision with Wings player

Indiana Fever Concludes Preseason Against Nigerian National Team

The Indiana Fever will wrap up their 2026 preseason on Saturday night, facing off against the Nigerian National Team.

Caitlin Clark was initially not on the injury report, which gave some relief. However, there were concerns regarding her fitness after a collision with a Dallas Wings player during Thursday’s preseason game. She appeared to limp off the court but eventually managed to walk away during a replay review that led to a flagrant 1 call.

Clark did return to the game, sinking two free throws, but remained on the sideline for the remainder of the match.

She ended up scoring a team-high 21 points, hitting 2 of 3 from beyond the arc and making 11 of 13 from the free-throw line. Additionally, she contributed two rebounds, four assists, and one steal during the contest.

Fast forward two days, and the two-time All-Star is set to play on Saturday night, despite lingering injury worries.

Last season was tough for Clark as she battled multiple injuries, limiting her to just 13 games as she entered her second season in the WNBA. Issues included a groin strain and a subsequent ankle bone bruise.

With the WNBA preparing for its milestone 30th season, ESPN recently ranked the top 50 active players in the league. Back-to-back MVP and reigning champion A’ja Wilson topped this list, having previously held the same position entering the 2025 season. Surprisingly, Clark was ranked as the No. 10 player.

In a positive note for the Fever, the team seems to be nearing full health ahead of the regular season. Center Aliyah Boston is anticipated to make her debut on Saturday after recovering from an injury sustained while playing in Unrivaled. Additionally, guard Ty Harris has been cleared to participate.

The Fever kick off their regular season on May 9th, facing the Wings in Dallas.
