Federal Charges Filed in Assault Case Involving Reporter
The Department of Justice has brought federal charges against three family members, accused of assaulting Savana Hernandez, a reporter for Turning Point USA. This incident occurred while she was covering protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minnesota. Hernandez expressed her gratitude for the involvement of federal authorities.
“I never imagined I’d say this, but I’m really thankful to the FBI. It’s a welcome change. Previously, we saw them using force against innocent citizens during the last administration,” Hernandez shared on a segment with Blaze TV host Sarah Gonzalez, who also noted the swift action taken by the Department of Justice to present the case to a grand jury.
Gonzalez expressed her belief that under the Biden administration, the response from the Justice Department would’ve been vastly different. “Honestly, I doubt anything like this would have happened,” she remarked.
Hernandez added that this was not her first experience with violent assaults, but it was the first time the federal government responded with interest. She speculated about past attitudes leading to serious incidents, like the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
“Protesters often feel emboldened, thinking they can act violently without consequences, especially since some regions have repeatedly allowed such behavior,” she explained.
Even with video evidence of the assault, one family member took to the media to present himself as the victim. The father allegedly recorded pushing Hernandez to the ground, described feeling overwhelmed by the scrutiny surrounding his family.
“It’s not just us; it includes my sons and their wives—people who didn’t even participate in this. It feels a bit too much, honestly,” he stated.
Gonzalez couldn’t help but respond, “He’s acting like he just shoved someone for no reason, and somehow he’s the one feeling victimized?”
Hernandez concluded with a wry remark about the situation, expressing disbelief at the idea that someone could violently push a woman without facing federal repercussions.
