Angelina Jolie Lists Iconic Los Angeles Estate for Nearly $30 Million
Actress Angelina Jolie has put her renowned Los Angeles home on the market for $29.9 million. It’s been about two years since she expressed a desire to leave the U.S. and relocate abroad.
The 50-year-old star acquired this exclusive property, formerly owned by director Cecil B. DeMille, for $24.5 million in 2017, shortly after her divorce from fellow actor Brad Pitt. This estate has served as her main residence since then.
Whispers of a potential sale began circulating in August 2025. In a past interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she mentioned wanting to leave Los Angeles once her youngest child turned 18.
She shared that the divorce agreement with Pitt required her to stay in California until their children reached certain ages, but she expressed a desire to spend considerable time in Cambodia after that.
“I grew up in this town. I’m here because of the divorce, and once they are all 18, I can finally leave,” she noted back then.
With her twin children, Knox and Vivienne, set to turn 18 in just a couple of months, it seems Jolie is moving ahead with her plans to depart. The six-bedroom, 10-bathroom estate has been their home since her separation from Pitt.
As The Wall Street Journal previously reported, the property spans nearly two acres and is being listed through John Grauman of Resident Group and Ernie Carswell from Sotheby’s International Realty.
Interestingly, Jolie’s name is not directly associated with the recent listing, but the property is described as an “iconic compound” with a rich history.
The listing emphasizes that it’s a unique chance to own a significant piece of Hollywood history, where DeMille played a pivotal role in shaping the film industry.
Originally designed in 1913 by architect B. Cooper Corbett, the estate became a hub of cinematic creativity after DeMille purchased it in 1916 and transformed it into a symbol of Hollywood glamour.
Moreover, the listing mentions that DeMille expanded the estate significantly in 1920 after acquiring an adjacent home once occupied by Charlie Chaplin.
The description highlights the blend of artistry and innovation that makes this property a masterpiece representing Hollywood’s Golden Age.
However, the listing provides little insight into any renovations Jolie might have made since taking ownership nearly a decade ago, and it notably lacks interior photographs, likely to maintain her privacy.
The luxurious features include a fitness studio, a tea house, a private living room with a fireplace, a guesthouse studio with its own entrance, a pool house, and a garage with a security station.
Perched at the highest point in the prestigious Laughlin Park enclave, the estate offers breathtaking views of the Hollywood Hills and the Griffith Observatory, enhancing its allure as a heritage property.
DeMille bought the original estate in 1916 for just $27,893 and resided there until his death in 1959. Since then, it has only been sold a few times; records indicate it was sold for $1.5 million in 1990 and remained with one owner for nearly three decades before Jolie’s purchase.
When she acquired the property, it had undergone a significant renovation, including updates to the grounds and pool.
Last year, Jolie opened her home to those impacted by the 2025 California wildfires, showing her compassion for those who lost their homes. An insider revealed that she felt “heartbroken” about the devastation.
Jolie has not yet made any public comments regarding the property listing, and it remains uncertain if she plans to sell any additional properties. She, meanwhile, mentioned that her New York City apartment serves as an “emergency pad” for her children.
In a March 2025 interview, Jolie remarked that one of her sons has made that residence his home but noted that all her children use it whenever they visit the city.
Besides her properties in the U.S., the actress owns several homes in Cambodia, which she began acquiring shortly after adopting her son Maddox.
She once humorously mentioned that her son had asked her to help clean up when he was residing there, saying, “I thought, ‘That’s great. I should clean for my mom. But how hard can that be?'”
Jolie is known for making impactful decisions, and her nostalgic journey reflects her ties to familial and cultural roots.
