Undocumented immigrant identified as carjacking suspect shot by Texas father defending his family of eight

Police have confirmed to sources that a shocking incident occurred involving a Texas father who shot and killed an illegal immigrant from Mexico during an attempted carjacking that involved eight family members, including a baby.

Officers responded to the scene around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday after a crash involving a passenger car and two other vehicles nearby. The driver responsible for the crash, identified as Jose Ramirez, 30, had parked at a nearby gas station and allegedly attempted to forcibly take several vehicles from the parking lot.

Police explained that Ramirez then crossed the street to a convenience store parking lot, where he attempted to force his way into his father’s car. Surveillance footage shows him pulling the father from the driver’s side and attempting to enter the vehicle.

A small child was seen escaping from the back seat as the rest of the family fled in fear. Authorities noted that Ramirez was in the driver’s seat with the door shut when the father began shooting from the passenger side.

After being transported to a hospital, Ramirez was pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported from the incident.

The father, who remained in the vehicle, cooperated with law enforcement, and no charges have been filed against him. Authorities indicated they reached out to DHS and ICE regarding Ramirez’s immigration status for further information.

Although Ramirez was unarmed at the time, officials stated that he was using force, and the father could not have known if he was armed or not. Garland Police Lt. Pedro Barrineau assessed the situation as likely self-defense, emphasizing how quickly these events unfolded.

Tatiana Starks, a manager at a nearby vape shop, witnessed Ramirez breaking into a car at the gas station and even recorded part of the incident. She mentioned that she stopped filming when their eyes met and described her feeling that he wasn’t in a good state of mind. Starks expressed relief that the family managed to escape unharmed, acknowledging how fortunate they were.
