San Francisco Official Faces Scrutiny Over Alleged Abusive Behavior and Anti-Semitic Posts
A San Francisco city representative, recognized for his prison reform advocacy, is under considerable criticism due to claims of an abusive relationship with a woman and for making anti-Semitic remarks on social media while serving on several City Hall committees.
William Monroe Palmer, who describes himself as an “Alpha Man” and chairs the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office Oversight Committee, has circulated numerous unsettling posts on Facebook and Instagram. These posts promote anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, obscure books about Jewish domination, and express controversial beliefs regarding women, Christianity, and polygamy.
In a Facebook post dated April 21, Palmer shared a video featuring a self-proclaimed “prophet” accusing Christians of failing to investigate Jewish issues. The video referenced a discredited racist text, erroneously pinned the blame for the transatlantic slave trade on Jews, and included offensive images of Jewish individuals.
“Is it because you were raised that way? After the indictments of Trump and Epstein, alongside the ongoing violence and historic racial abuse in Israel, are you still voting Democrat or Republican?” Palmer questioned while promoting this hateful content.
On April 30, he highlighted a Facebook post from the Israelite School of Universal Practical Knowledge, a black supremacist group linked to the Black Hebrew Israelite Movement, which the Southern Poverty Law Center has designated a hate group for its racist and anti-Semitic ideologies.
Footage shared by Palmer showed a man wearing a shirt that boldly claimed “Real Jews, Not Fake Jews,” presenting a skewed interpretation of biblical narratives based on race.
Palmer, who also participates in advising on prison sentencing for the San Francisco District Attorney’s office, made dubious claims on Instagram about Kamala Harris supposedly trying to increase penalties. He also engaged in questionable commentary about Jewish finances.
In another video, he shared content implying Jews have orchestrated a conspiracy to maintain power. These posts have drawn ire, with a representative from the Bay Area Jewish Community Relations Council pointing out the clear anti-Semitic nature of Palmer’s shared content, which aligns with dangerous ideologies.
Additionally, Palmer faces accusations of abuse from four women. He also reported a rough financial situation, having accumulated numerous parking tickets amounting to a substantial fine. Some members of the Board of Oversight, which initially appointed him amid a drive for criminal justice reform, are now urging for his resignation in light of the violence allegations against women.
The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office distanced itself from Palmer’s views and actions, emphasizing that his beliefs do not reflect those of the office or the committee.
Palmer’s posts extend beyond anti-Semitism, as he also criticized interracial marriages and denied feminist ideals, asserting that nature intended for men to have multiple wives. When confronted about his posts, he dismissed anti-Semitic accusations, instead styling himself as a “knowledge seeker” and claiming an interest in historical research.
Palmer was appointed to the Sheriff’s Oversight Commission in 2021 under the premise of including individuals with personal experiences in shaping prison reform. Despite a history of severe legal troubles, he emerged from a lengthy incarceration and used his experience to advocate for prisoners through his nonprofit, Life After Next.
Even after his release, Palmer continued to encounter problems with the law, facing multiple traffic violations. In various interactions with law enforcement, he insisted on his significant position and sought to challenge the narrative against him.
Recently, serious allegations have arisen regarding sexual assault from multiple women. Past attempts to secure a restraining order against him followed reported violent behavior. Palmer has denied these claims and even suggested holding a community forum to present his side of the events that transpired.
He has expressed frustrations regarding parking tickets, arguing against what he perceives as unfair practices targeting low-income residents and asserting his right to individual liberty.
The situation remains tense, with increasing calls for accountability and scrutiny regarding Palmer’s actions and viewpoints that many deem unacceptable for someone in his position.
