Milwaukee Man Arrested for Street Takeovers

A 22-year-old man from Milwaukee, Ricky Alcantara Hernandez, is accused of orchestrating a series of dangerous street takeovers in the city. He was apprehended over the weekend of April 25th and 26th on several charges connected to these incidents.

According to Milwaukee police, they responded to around 20 reports related to the takeovers. Videos circulating online depict various hijackings featuring “the same vehicle” and some unusual characters, including an inflatable SpongeBob SquarePants and a person in an orange jumpsuit with a mask.

One specific clip shows two cars performing burnouts and donuts in an intersection while a crowd cheers them on. It’s kind of wild to think about, really—people gathering like that, getting caught up in the thrill of it all.

Authorities suggest that Alcantara-Hernandez was instrumental in planning and igniting these illegal gatherings, which seems quite reckless. Milwaukee’s police chief has emphasized the department’s ongoing commitment to combat these activities, stressing that participation puts public safety in jeopardy. He pointed out that anyone involved in such harmful behavior will face consequences.

On May 3, Alcantara-Hernandez was charged with three counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety and one count concerning a machine gun. It’s a serious list of accusations, and the situation certainly raises eyebrows about what public enjoyment should really look like.

His attorney has been contacted for further comment but, for now, the case continues to unfold.
