Las Vegas Mother Sentenced to Life in Prison for Drowning Children
A federal judge has sentenced a mother from Las Vegas to life behind bars after she admitted to drowning her two children in a bathtub back in 2021.
Giován Trevino, 38, expressed remorse before his sentencing, stating he was not in an “insane” state of mind during the tragic events. Authorities discovered the lifeless bodies of Trevino’s children, Christopher Fox, age 4, and Gianna Fox, merely 1 year old, inside their home in July 2021.
Trevino said during the court proceedings, “On Monday, July 19, 2021, the precious, innocent life of my baby was taken at the hands of his mother.” He further reflected, “I was truly insane and in the darkest place I’ve ever been in, as evidenced by the horrific crimes I committed.”
While serving her life sentence, Keaney expressed her ongoing torment. “As I spend the rest of my life in prison, I will see them at night and think about them,” she remarked. “That’s the only compliment we can give them at this point.” The judge reiterated that they would always remember this case.
Clark County Chief Deputy District Attorney John Giordani labeled the act an “unforgivable crime,” remarking it as one of the most severe examples of matricide he has encountered in his 15 years in the field.
Reports indicate that Trevino had taken sleeping pills and alcohol before the murders. The children’s father, Christopher Fox, and their grandmother, Shauna Fox, also provided emotional testimonies. “I can’t imagine the cruelty of leaving children dead in a bathtub for their dad to come home from work and find them,” said Shona Fox.
Christopher Fox added, “I just want the court to remember my kids as fun, loving kids. I don’t care about anything else.”
