Whoopi Goldberg Critiques Trump’s Indifference Amid Iran War Fallout
On Wednesday, Whoopi Goldberg expressed concerns that the United States comes off as emasculated and vulnerable internationally, particularly in light of President Donald Trump’s recent comments about the Iran war. This discussion took place on “The View,” where her co-hosts sharply criticized Trump’s rhetoric regarding the war’s economic impact on Americans.
In a controversial video from Tuesday, Trump was asked whether he would consider the American economic situation while negotiating an end to the costly war in Iran. His response was, “Not in the slightest.” He emphasized that the only priority should be preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, disregarding American economic concerns entirely.
Goldberg and her co-hosts highlighted that many Americans—regardless of their political affiliations—feel betrayed by Trump’s decision to engage in this conflict, which they believe has only worsened their financial struggles. They collectively condemned the president for his apparent lack of empathy towards the very people who supported him. “When he went to Iran, he didn’t listen to his supporters’ pleas. Now, he ignores that families can’t afford food,” Goldberg pointed out.
The conversation shifted to the role of various Trump administration officials, who, according to the co-hosts, have faced ridicule and have contributed to national security fears. They discussed how this dysfunction often leads to Trump ultimately having to deal with certain individuals, sometimes removing them from their roles due to growing criticism.
Goldberg also expressed her lack of trust in the government, saying, “I don’t trust the people who are running things.” She referenced issues with the CDC, expressing concern over the handling of a persistent virus. “They’re telling us there’s nothing to worry about, but how do we know that?” she questioned, adding her belief that America has, in a way, failed as a nation.
When asked if she suggested that her co-hosts were emasculated, Whoopi responded, “It’s the same thing. I might not articulate it perfectly, but the lack of accountability scares me.” Co-host Alyssa Farrar-Griffin countered that while challenges exist, America still has its strengths, particularly in sports.
Goldberg reiterated a sentiment she believes is prevalent globally—that people have lost faith in American actions, perceiving them as lacking credibility. She voiced her frustration about this disingenuousness and how it affects the nation’s stature: “That’s not how the United States should be viewed.”
