Eric Trump announced on Friday his intention to sue MS NOW and Jen Psaki, the show’s prime-time host, over what he claims are “blatant lies” regarding his recent trip to China with his father, former President Donald Trump.
During her Wednesday monologue, Psaki took aim at the situation, questioning Eric Trump’s involvement with the presidency despite not holding any official government position. She suggested there might be some kind of firewall to prevent conflicts of interest while he and his brother, Donald Trump Jr., work on the family business.
Psaki highlighted a statement from the White House asserting there was no conflict of interest. In response, Eric Trump’s press secretary noted that he was joining his father in a personal capacity and neither had any business meetings nor ties to China.
“This denial is intriguing, especially with the Financial Times article that just came out,” Psaki remarked, reading the headline: “President Eric Trump joins family group seeking deal with China on Beijing trip.”
According to reports, Eric Trump was listed as an “observer” on the board of ALT5Sigma, a fintech company linked to the family’s cryptocurrency ventures, which is also pursuing a deal with a Chinese chipmaker while building an AI data center in the U.S. However, Psaki stated that he “sits on the board,” pointing out that he and his brother had even rung the Nasdaq bell for the company.
She continued, “It seems like Eric stands to gain more from this China trip than just spending time with his father.” She then elaborated on various ways he and his brother have allegedly benefited from the administration.
Eric Trump clarified his position, stating he never served on ALT5Sigma’s board and emphasized his complete lack of interest in business dealings in China. He insisted his trip was solely for family reasons, expressing his desire to support his father. “During bilateral talks, Lara and I went to the Great Wall of China. More details to come…” he added.
As of now, MS NOW has not provided a response to requests for comments regarding the situation.
