NFC South Primarily Belongs to the Atlanta Falcons in 2025

As the season wrapped up, Kirk Cousins stepped in for Michael Penix Jr. and embraced the opportunity, guiding the team to a four-game winning streak. They ended the season tied with the Panthers and Buccaneers, both finishing at 8-9.

Sadly for Atlanta, the tiebreaker favored Carolina, granting them the division title and leaving the Falcons to regroup during the offseason.

With the conclusion of the season, the Falcons opted for a new direction, parting ways with head coach Raheem Morris. They brought in Kevin Stefanski, formerly of the Browns, as the new head coach.

At 44, Stefanski joins a core that includes Michael Penix Jr., Bijan Robinson, Chris Lindstrom, Drake London, and Jesse Bates III, alongside offseason innovations like Brian Robinson Jr., Tua Tagovailoa, Jahan Dotson, Jake Bailey, Austin Hooper, and promising second-round pick Avion Terrell.

On paper, it seems encouraging. Plus, with the fifth-easiest schedule projected for the 2026 season (based on the previous year’s stats), it’s easy to get swept up in visions of playoff dreams—though caution is advisable. The competition remains fierce, and it’s essential for Penix Jr. and the Falcons to make significant strides this upcoming year.

Looking at the NFL schedule, the Falcons will have home games against Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens on October 11, Caleb Williams’ Chicago Bears on October 18, and Brock Purdy’s San Francisco 49ers on October 25. They’re also set to face Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs on November 15 and Jared Goff’s Detroit Lions on December 6.

Additionally, they’ll meet Bryce Young’s Carolina Panthers on September 20 and Baker Mayfield’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers on December 27. It’s clear that Stefanski’s squad will need the support of their fans.

If you’re interested in witnessing the Falcons in action, tickets are on sale for all eight of their 2026 home games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, available through verified platforms.
